The aim of the project is to collect experiences of social housing in North Eastern Derbyshire and archive them together to make a complete record of social histories that would otherwise be lost.
We want to collect everything that can be offered by the communities of North Eastern Derbyshire.
So, if you, your relatives or friends have something you would like to contribute we would like to hear about it. We are particularly interested in:
- Photographs of houses you have lived in
- Photographs of community events
- Descriptions of significant events and experiences – these can be written down, or we can record your experiences as oral history. You could take us on a “guided tour” of your local area, describing events that have affected you.
We are collecting photographs of significant objects and documents – rent books, tenancy agreements, tenants’ handbooks, maps and plans of houses and estates, bus timetables, tram tickets … anything you would like to contribute is valuable to the project.
If you would like to contribute, or would like to discuss it further, please contact Ellen Taylor at Derbyshire Law Centre, 1 Rose Hill East, Chesterfield, Derbyshire S40 1NU. If you want to send photographs you can do so, but please read the copyright pages first.
